Headlining...

I know this a big problem with the 740, the headlining becomming loose and falling down. I was wondering if anyone has tried to put Fur or Velvet on the roof of their Volvo? I am going to get Velour seats, maybe Velvet though. Also do the doors. Probably in purple. So how would one stick or fix the fur or velvet to the ceiling of the car? Is there really good glue?

Oh yes, I will. Do you think Fabric glue would do for the roof? the dash will have to be taken out so I can fit Velvet, purple and black will be the colour scheme :D

YO! Pimp my ride!!! All in the best possible taste, of course. Are you thinking of removing the headlining and sticking the fabric direct to the metal or just replacing the fabric? An aerosol contact adhesive would do the job but if used direct on the metal roof then you would need to make sure that everything was dry and warm. ie Outside at this time of the year is not recommended.

Hi, I must admit that I would not recommend gluing directly to the metal of the roof. The headlining serves two functions. Sound proofing. Insulation. It would be worth while attemting to find an alternate material that could be molded to the current shape and used in conjunction with your chosen material. You'll appreciate it.. Des. . . ;)

Jollop to stick funfur 

Hi, Would it not be an idea to clean off the existing head lining of most of the existing wadding and using some "stuff" from Woolis (or whoever) and glue to rebuild the lining. That way you will retain the existing lining, but have a stronger one. More resistant to failure and looking as if there was never a problem... Des. . . ;)

A little expensive for a roof of a Volvo... But this I think would be a good option... If I did take it down to the metal if I fitted that then it'd get insulation from cold and the sound. And 12mm is thick, I'd imagine it'd make it very quiet in the car.
